Most probably, the windows users have never experienced this type of continuous trial releasing by Microsoft. At first, Microsoft released Windows 8 Developer Preview. Then they released Consumer Preview. And at the beginning of this June they released a new trial named Windows 8 Release Preview. And I don't know whether they have any plan to release any more trial version of Windows. 

Though it is very boring for the users but it may be finally a breakthrough in the history of operating systems. Maybe this is an attempt to compete with Mac OS. Microsoft is very cautious about Windows 8. Because when they released Windows Vista users didn't say it welcome. There were many bugs. And system requirements were unnecessary high.

Maybe Microsoft is trying to avoid such type of mistakes that they've made in Windows Vista. That's why they are releasing so many trial version of Windows 8. And hopefully, Windows users are getting something special at the end of 2012.

Activate Windows 8 Preview by Windows Update!

Microsoft declared that Windows 8 Developer Preview will be expired on March 11, 2012. And when it will expire, the computers with Windows 8 Developer Preview installed will restart every 2 hours!

So there are two options available for users. They can either download Windows 8 Consumer Preview or they can use their previous windows instead of Windows 8.

But there is another options available for Windows 8 users! Ya I am talking about activating it. There are lots of options available for activation. Some of them are valid some are invalid. Some are working and some are non working. 

But, do you know that you can easily validate your developer preview version in a legal way. Microsoft released an update for windows 8 a few days ago. This update is very small. 

Activation Method: 

1. Open Control Panel
2. Go to the Windows Update
3. Click on available updates link
4. Now search for an update named Update for Windows 8 Developer Preview (KB2671501)
5. And install it.

If you have any difficulty to find it then install all updates. Your windows will be activated automatically after restarting your PC. 

If you wanna make sure that your windows is activated then make a right click on Computer and click on View details in Windows Activation. And you will see the following window:

How to Activate Windows 8 Developer Preview Build 8102 M3

Microsoft tried to make the installation process of windows 8 developer preview as easy as possible. Users don't need to type any product key during installation. And it's working fine after installing. 

However if someone finds that he needs to provide a product for activation then he can try this one: 6RH4V-HNTWC-JQKG8-RFR3R-36498

There is another method to activate windows 8 developer preview. Just follow the steps below:

1. Press Start button and Type cmd
2. Now Command Prompt window will appear and need to type the following code

slmgr.vbs -ipk 6RH4V-HNTWC-JQKG8-RFR3R-36498
slmgr.vbs -ato

Note: After typing the first line and when you press enter there may appear several windows with error messages. Don't be panic. You will get the activation message within 1/2 minutes.

If this system does not work for you then follow this method.

Now Press Window Logo Key + Pause. Your computer properties will show windows is activated. And click on the View details. It will show a window with activation status like below:

Note: If the above system doesn't work for you then you can Activate Windows Developer Preview Build 8102 M3 by Windows Update. It is 100% working method and provided by Microsoft itself!

And if all the above system fails, then you need to download the consumer preview copy of Windows 8.

Any desktop, laptop or mobile devices like iPad or Tablet PC essentially needs an OS to operate. And there are numerous OS and OS manufacturers throughout the world. But most of them are out of competition. People only know about very few of them.

In this post I am gonna focus on OS Usage Statistics of Micro Computer- Desktop, Laptop and Notebook. 

In the above figure you can easily see the usage statistics / market share of the most used OS of the world. If you need even more, then go for details below:

Windows: Software giant Microsoft secured the top position by their windows OS. This is the most widely used OS in the whole world. Specially in micro computers it has no strong competitors. More than 84% micro computers run on Windows OS.  Few years ago, when it lunched Windows Vista, it faces serious criticism. But few years later when Windows 7 released Microsoft was able to recover their reputation. Now it is working with Windows 8. Trial of Windows 8 is available in the net. And hopefully within few weeks/ months it is going to be released with full features and support. 

Mac: Late Steve Jobs' Apple is famous for iPod, iPad, iPhone. But it also produce desktop and tablet. And their devices run on Mac OS. Not bad, but can't compete with windows due to its closed business system and high price of hardware. Though its market share is still very low, but there is a chance for them to grab Windows OS users. And they are always trying to capture the OS market. But Microsoft is really a tough friend as their chairman is Mr. Bill Gates! Isn't it? 

Linux: Now come to the world of open source software. Yes, I am talking about Linux. This is at the bottom  of top used OS. It has different versions of OS and they are often released few times in a month. Some of them are well known to people. Such as- Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Mint etc. Developers and IT professional like Linux and they are happy with it. But general people simply hate it due to its interface and complex system. If Linux wanna increase its share then it has no way if it fails to realize the users psychology. 

Others: There are many other OS too. But none of them are able to capture 1% of total market. List of other OS even may exceeds thousand! But nobody knows will one of them be able to access the top OS list or not. Here you can find the name of almost all OS. 

Built in Security in Windows 8

Is this true? Ya this is true. And for sure.

Windows 8 has a built in antivirus program named Windows Defender. Windows defender was also included with windows vista and 7. But its functions were very limited. In windows 8, defender has been redesigned like Microsoft Security Essentials. The skin and interface of New Windows Defender is just like MSE. But maybe there is a significant change in case of performance.

You will find windows defender in the control panel only. On the desktop, you will find no sign of it. Whenever you insert a flash drive in the system, defender will be scanning it. Scanning process is silent. You will not be able to see it. When any virus/ spam/ warm/ malware is detected it will just show you a message. If you wanna further analyze the drive then you just need to click on the message. All other system is similar to Microsoft Security Essential. 

Windows 8 System Requirements

Windows 8 is the latest version of windows. Original version of windows 8 is not released it. Hopefully it will be launched within few weeks or months. Hardware manufacturer are also working to make devices that is compatible with this OS.

But what about the current hardware. IT lovers wanna know about the requirements of windows 8. Microsoft says, if your PC supports windows Vista and 7 you will be able to run Windows 8 too. Sometimes windows 8 requires less amount of resources that windows 7!

Windows 8 Download

By this time, hopefully you all have already heard about Windows 8. Actually it is just a preview of original OS.  Though it is a preview, I was very curious about it. 

In order to test it I requested one of my friends to download it for me. After getting it, I installed Windows 8 on my system and found a new world of computing! 

There is a revolutionary change in Windows 8. At first glance you may be lost your path in the wonderful options of windows 8. But keep using it for some days. You will just love it.

Windows 7 Calculator

Do you use your windows 7 calculator for general calculation purpose? If you do, tried to find something out more from it? 

At first glance it seems there is nothing new in the calculator. Looks like windows vista's calculator and performs like that of windows XP. Probably you don't know you've made a mistake.

Open the calculator of Windows 7 from program list. Or go to run, type calc and press enter. Now go to the view menu. Look at the bottom. See the options ie. basic, unit conversion, date calculation and worksheets. Now I think you should guess what can you do with this options. 

Beside performing scientific and statistical calculation you can perform the following tasks too:

• You can find out your age on a particular date. You can find the difference between the two dates. 
• You can convert units. ie. weight, length etc.
• You can perform some worksheet functions too without MS Excel!

Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8

Someone may think that in this GUI (Graphical User Interface) generation, this is very funny to memorize the keyboard shortcuts. But if you wanna be a smart user you should do. There is no other shortcut way to avoid shortcuts.
